Re: Moldy Crow
Thank you! Been working on creating two different illustrations of the ship. The one from Dark Forces is different in several, significant ways from the one in Jedi Knight, so I thought it would be good to make a drawing of both, then use the Dark Forces one as a basis for backdating to the stock model.

Re: Moldy Crow
Okay, this is the Jedi Knight version of the ship. It isn't truly finished; it needs a little more fine-tuning as far as coloring goes, but I think I can let it go for now and focus on the Dark Forces version.

Re: Moldy Crow
That is looking really, really, and I mean REALLY great.
I just noticed a small detail though.
The hatch in the rear of the jaw appears to clip through the turret cylinder when rotating.
A couple of suggestions;
1) make that cylinder have a dent so that that hatch opens freely
2) make the hatch 2 pieces;
a) the lower section smaller so that the rotation angle does not clip the cylinder and have an extending ramp / ladder to compensate, and
b) an upper door that slides upwards into the hull to prevent brain damage when entering and exiting the ship.
Also, on the top view, there are these very large grey pieces at the windows. I don't recall that being on the ship.
Overall though, this ship looks breathtaking. great job!

Thanks for the feedback!
1) I probably won't modify the turret mount as it is a smooth cylinder in the cinematics.
2) I have been thinking about this and I'm going to make it a shorter ladder and make the upper half slide into the hull.

I'm not sure what you mean. Could you clarify, please? I tried to make sure all the details I included were stuff I'd seen.

Re: Moldy Crow
Okay, I've been working on the HWK-290's lineart and shading. I separated the image for the Jedi Knight version into the panel lines, the outlines, and the spectrogram. This ensures error-free deckplanning. Next I'll be combining them into a single image and then use the eraser tool to replace the spectral colors with the correct hull colors as well as the outlines and panel lines. Then it'll be time to backdate it for the Dark Forces and stock variants.

Re: Moldy Crow
this is looking awesome. I'm constantly impressed with your work on this project.
One small observation is regarding the decals. IIRC we made a spectrogram for the decal shade. Not a huge deal here as the shading is not quite done and is easily added in.

Re: Moldy Crow
Yeah, I'm going to put the secondary stuff that needs shading on another layer, for exactly that reason.
