Re: Moldy Crow

I'd be happy to share whatever I come up with! And as I said, you're free to add it to the site or else decline; I'm fine either way. emoticon I'll be drawing it in one of the scales that the site uses, probably one of the larger ones just because the Crow is so small, so whenever I finish it I'll post it here and see what you all think.

Currently my time is occupied with a couple of massive projects, so I don't have as much time as I'd like to work on it. However, one of them will be of interest to the forum, that being a 32 inch long, fully cutaway Millennium Falcon with every square inch of deck visible (other than the boarding ramp for obvious reasons, though I've been puzzling that one out anyway just in case I can figure out a solution that will work). I've been working on that for years now and while it's nowhere near finished I'm certain it will be something everyone here will want to see. I've got a few photos of what I've made so far here: https://forum.us.model-space.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=33174

Since it's a studio model replica made by white light scanning the original miniature, this may prove useful for deckplanning the YT-1300 and getting the best sense possible of the internal volume. Or not, lol. I am just happy to show it off!

Wow, very cool. It'll be great to see what you come up with on both. Enjoy the journey the projects takes you.

Re: Moldy Crow

Wow indeed, that model is looking screen quality dude! very impressive build. You are not goofing around with that. Stunning work, my friend.

As for the Moldy Crow, I recommend a scale like M100 if you are sizing the ship anywhere around or below the 20 m range.

anything larger and I would recommend M40 for manageability, if you are intending to make the deckplan in pixelart form, but you are free to interpret whichever way. I think you've proven yourself very capable at photogrammetry and definitely in artistic skill, so I am eager to see what you do with the millenium falcon model you are making and the moldy crow in the future. Thanks!

Thank you so much! I'll be sure to keep the forum updated whenever I add more to the ship. emoticon

As for the Crow, I'll be using M100 because it's definitely below 20 meters. Probably in the realm of 12-14 meters, as previously noted in my analysis.

Okay, so I lied about M100... for now, anyway. Lucas' work is really good, and is at M40, so I'm going to use it for now and then later make a new deckplan in M100.

Here's the exterior as it stands, with the new work I've added to it.

Re: Moldy Crow

Nice detailing so far man.

yeah, this is in M40.

the length of the ship in that is 607 pixels which at M40 is 15.175m
at M20 it would be a bit crazy at 30.35m

I believe I rounded off by one pixel because back in the day, we found that pixel art works better in odd numbers rather than even, to avoid double lines and such.

Re: Moldy Crow

Now that I examine this, it might actually be in (gasp) "redscale".

Though, I think I actually went with M40 for this one, because I started working on this after FVB and his goons left, and the math at M40 works cleaner.

here is the math;
Redscale is 1 pixel = 1 inch / 12 pixels = 1 foot
M40 is 40 pixels = 1 metre

607 pixels long at redscale = 607 inches / 50.58 ft (converts to 15.42m)
607 pixels at M40 = 15.175m (converts to 49.79ft or 597.5 inches)

I'm going to maintain that it's M40 because 15.4 meters is well within the estimates we've derived and because I'm incredibly lazy and don't want to redo all my work. :P
