that would make sense.

although, it seems to me that the most critical times to use the engineering station would be when the chair is serving the turret. (i.e. combat)

There is a LOT of space in there. Put in a droid. During combat, the droid can handle the engineering station. He can act faster, than a human and both energy distribution and damage control don't require a lot of intuition and creativity. After the battle, post-combat work is done by the human gunner, who is better at compromises and intuitive decisions.

Ok...so i've done some rethinking/returning to previous thoughts....There is already in a compuer station in the command pod, aft of the pilot's station. I'm thinking that will serve as an engineering console. Any in flight repair to power and engine systems will likely take place in the turret ball, but I'm thinking much of the chamber will be taken up by a fresher and autochef...i had kinda forgotten them....i think the crew might want them.

So i doubt the gunner's chair will be used for other purposes, but i'm still debating if the swinging arm is the best way to get it in and out of position...I'm open to ideas if anyone has any.

A table would be a good idea too. Maybe the gunner can crawl up into the seat using the table and a couple of handles near the chair.

Just put the chair under the ceiling and in case of combat, switch of gravity in the pod. Then any self respecting gunner should be able to get into position easily, without any complicated climbing involved.

So after 2 weeks of almost constant work on the TIE Escort I seem to have ground to a stunning hault. I just can't come up with an internal layout for the ball/turret that seem to work to me.

As a result I've decided to revisit a freighter I drew a top view of a couple years ago...This is a fairly straight foreward adaptation of the top view, but still needs some details and quite a bit of tweaking...but here it is...

You were inspired by someone flipping you off, weren't you? emoticon

There's definitely some potential there though... emoticon

Well if your following that sort of thught the top view appears to dress to the left.

As far as the original top view goes though I couldn't tell you...i tend to just start drawing and see what happens...it's usually half way done before i know what i'm drawing, then i use that to guide the restof the way...
