STAR WARS: TIE FIGHTER

the best SW game of it's time and stil an interesting game to play. I wish Lucas Arts would remake this game or one in it's style for both the pc and consoles.

plus it has some information on ships and cargo containers that we might find usefull. if you can find a copy of this game on the cheap I suggest you pick it up, it will work with xp with some fiddling.

The game doesn't neem fiddling to work with XP, just run it in WIN95 compatibility modus. Worked like a charm ... when I still had Windows XP.

I switched to Mac, he only SW games I have (for now) are:

- SW Dark Forces (yep, the original): still a great game to play.
- SW Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast: great, but I'm still getting used to using the mouse when playing first person games.

i have TIE Fighter still. I got the version a couple of years ago where the graphics were updated. I still love that game. works like a charm in XP. The graphics are dated, and I wish they would make another game like this.

Love this game.

I had a small issue with with a Creative Audigy 2 sound card took about 5 minutes to figure it out. no biggy, hence the fiddling remark

yes the graphics are dated, ecspecially if you have a large monitor, but it still has a real smooth feel to the controls

we should all send Lucas Arts an email and kick them in the but for not releasing a sequel to this game

Re: STAR WARS: TIE FIGHTER

There's a total conversion for X-wing Alliance for Tie-figther.

Is quite nice, you can play all the missions of TIe-figther but with the improved engine of XWA and the model upgrade of the XWAupgrade project. The only problem is that is a little underground, but most of the parts needed for the conversion can be found on the xwaupgrade forums.

If you have X-wing Alliance it deserves a try.

Re: STAR WARS: TIE FIGHTER

I was surprised when they didn't bother to make any expansions, add-ons or sequels to X-wing: Alliance, that was such a great game, a true successor to the old X-wing and X-wing vs Tie fighter games.

I think it was even set up ready for expansion cause there was always a door on the menu screen, you know one door took you to training, another took you to the Otana for bios and comms another took you to the sim and another took you to missions. There was an extra door there that didn't do anything. I always though, the expansion would be there but it never came.

One thing about that game though I always wanted to be just a starfighter pilot at the battle of Endor, flying the B-wing and not a transport like the game was set up for. Not for the interior bit but the battle itself.

Re: STAR WARS: TIE FIGHTER

Around 15 years ago I got the collector's CD editions of X-Wing and TIE Fighter. Played them back then - as much of X-Wing as I could - but haven't since; just have so much to play...

(I also pirated both back in 90's.)

But yeah, TIE Fighter is one of best SW games ever.
