Consular-Class Cruiser
Hello everyone! First of all, if the image is bumping the forum borders let me know and I'll figure out how to fix it. Secondly, I'm not sure why DeviantArt is downgrading the resolution of the image, and I can't find the setting to change to prevent that happening...
My technological difficulties aside, I present my work so far on what is chronologically the very first ship seen in the Star Wars saga. It's drawn at 10 pixels/meter scale. The front 2/3 of the ship is essentially done, aside from greebles and other details. The rear 3rd of the ship has been a real pain, but I'll figure something out eventually.
I think I'm going to go for something of a compromise between the Radiant VII studio model and the TCW asset. What you see now is almost entirely Radiant VII, the only alterations I've made so far are the docking ring (it has a hatch instead of just bits and bobs) and I raised the upper deck section by a couple of pixels to make enough room for the salon pod, a full 2.5 meter tall deck, and the structure of the ship.
Comments and suggestions welcome. 
Edit: I found the DeviantArt setting to prevent the image from downsizing!

Small(ish) update. I knew I was jinxing myself when I wrote the front 2/3 of the ship was done, and I've heavily revised not only that portion of the ship (including the salon pod), but also the engines.
I need to make a start on the details on the main "wing," but the shapes in that section are complex. I think I'm happy with where the rest of the ship is now, so maybe I'll spend some time on that and make some progress in the next few days.

very nice work so far. where did you get the dimensions from? is there a place on the ship that we can use from existing reference material to confirm the scale?
Maybe from the hangar scene from Episode 1?

I went with the stated length of 115 meters.
Unfortunately the ship's TPM appearance doesn't have anything useful for determining scale. There are B1 and Vulture droids in the hangar when the Radiant VII lands, but they're CGI composited on top of the physical model, plus none are ever directly in line with the ship.
The length of the TCW asset, 138.5 meters, seems too big for the ship as depicted in TPM, and several TCW ships are a bit oversized anyway.
At 115 meters the Consular's escape pods are more or less the same size as a 150(ish) meter CR90, which seems like a promising conjunction to me. The scale of the figurines in the physical model's bridge also suit a 115 meter Consular (see here).

Nice! very nice find on the exhibit model! I didn't even know they had that. I was actually about to suggest taking a screen cap from the scene just before the boom to see if the figures are visible in the windows.
re: the CR-90 escape pods. please note that I recently discovered a scale discrepency regarding the CR90 in relation to the escape pods, so they may likely no longer be a good benchmark for scale. Still tinkering on that and will update when I am ready with additional research conclusions.
JUst to verify, I would just measure the head of one of those figures and extrapolate based on the Vitruvian Man dimensional drawing in relation to one of those windows to determine a verifiable scale....just because of that retched old OCD-19 that I contracted.
Fantastic work.
I'll be honest, I have always really liked this design, despite my feelings on TPM in general and the lazy design of the Naboo N-1 (the R2 slot is made of the dumb).

Thank you both! I can't remember how I stumbled across that Flickr account, but it's a treasure trove.
Something else to keep in mind when determining the size of the ship is the interior set. We only get a couple different angles on the bridge in TPM, but its size also supports the 115 meter length. If the overall ship were much larger, the bridge set would need to be much wider than it is. (As an aside, it would be awesome if the Radiant VII bridge set were included in the Star Wars blueprints coffee table book, but unfortunately it isn't. The section of the book covering the prequels is pretty slim.)

Here's where the ship stands before I take a break for a week:
I'm going out of town for a week, and where I'm going there's no internet, so I'm leaving the computer at home. The break will probably do me good anyway, the structures on the wing, both dorsal and ventral, are a bit of a nightmare to figure out.
Updates include:
-Escape pods
-Landing gear hatches
-Cross section with two options for decks
-Added second layer of the "spine"
-Added radiators to engines
I think that's all the major updates.
