20m Imperial TIE Fighters

Here is my current progress on the TIE/LN at 20 pixels per meter. I think I may tweak the specifications a bit, and I want to add a TIE pilot figure as well, but overall I'm pretty happy with it.

Any suggestions about shading and the detailing on the fuel tank cap would be greatly appreciated. I know it's (very) similar in style to SWDA, but I don't think I want to fully emulate the drawing and shading techniques used here.

All comments and criticism welcome!

Re: 20m TIE/LN

A small update to the ship, plus the pilot. I think I will stick with a minimal approach to details, since at this scale satisfactorily capturing fine details like those on the top hatch and the fuel tank cap is difficult. But that might imply removing the detailing I've done on the command pod above and below the canopy and above the reactor, so I haven't fully decided what direction I want to go.

This is looking pretty good. I like the detailing on the wing panels. I haven't had a chance to look over all of the details for accuracy, but it looks good overall.

What are your plans for cutaways or TIE variants?

Re: 20m TIE/LN

Thank you both emoticon.

I'm planning on doing most canon and non-canon TIE variants. I've more or less completed the TIE/fo, and I'm in the process of modifying that into the TIE/sf. I'll create a thread over in the Disney forum. As for cutaways...not sure yet, I haven't started playing around with those yet.

I know it kind of goes against the grain to trust dimensions from resource books, but truthfully Disney seems to be spot on. The Rogue One visual dictionary correctly pegs the X-Wing at 13.4 meters, which is what I independently calculated a few years ago (see my X-Wing thread here). So, long story short, in most cases I'm planning to use the dimensions from Disney-published resources for ships.

I think I'm happy with the finished product for the TIE/ln.

I need to make a few updates to my TIE/fo to match some of the changes I made to the TIE/ln and that one should be good to go as well.

Finalized TIE/ln, updated the shading and details and did my best to color match the blueish gray version seen in ESB and ANH.

WOW! those are gorgeous! How did I not see this?

I started back in the day to analyze the size of the TIE cockpit ball for scale. You have drawn beautiful work here.

great job!

Thank you emoticon

I'm torn between keeping the minimalist approach I took to details originally or going back and adding a bit more, mostly on the fuel tank cap.
