Preferred Gaming platform

As I am sure many of you are also, I am an avid gamer. Currently I focus more on PS4 with a general taste towards scifi and adventure games;

Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, Grand Theft Auto etc.

I was one of the sad individuals who was roped in on the hype for No Man's Sky and was rather disappointed at the final product...that being said, more recent updates have gone a long way to improve that experience...though I admit to not really going back to it.

I am eagerly looking forward to the launch of Elite Dangerous on June 27th for the PS4, and there are probably several members here who played the PC or XBOX version.

IF anyone is interested in joining me in online gaming sessions now and then, my PSN handle is;
The_Other_Lucas

Also if you are interested in gaming related videos that I have made, please check out my youtube channel here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCx2VQPQqNVfq9qQsrzhtrwg
I recommend the Epic Warstock Ad and the Akuma Ad....I think they are my funniest work....though probably not my most technical.

I've been playing Elite Dangerous on-and-off on PC for a month now, mostly solo play. I hear open play can get pretty ugly.

Awesome. I have been keeping an eye on Elite Dasngerous since it's kickstarter announcement and am very excited for it's release on PS4.

Solid PC gamer here.

Haven't touched a console since Red Faction on the PS2 more than a decade ago.

But, eh. I'm on Steam playing Battlegrounds if anyone wants to find me there.

Re: Preferred Gaming platform

Oh, I almost forgot. I also occasionally play the free-to-play tank and airplane simulator War Thunder (not to be confused with World of Tanks and World of Warplanes), though quite a bit less than I used to because I'm having trouble finding people with the time and inclination to play (all of my meatspace friends are useless in this regard).

If any of you are interested, I've included a referral link here. It'll give you some bonus premium currency when you start, and if you stick around for a while, I get some bonuses as well.

The game is available for PC (Windows and Linux, apparently), Mac, and PS4, with cross-platform play.

The low-tier play is actually a lot of fun, and I've not spent a dime on anything and still had a good time.

Funny story...was walking in the store several weeks back and my wife saw they had a great deal on an old Xbox 360 so we got it. It was ok but a week later we went all in and bought a brand new Xbox One...been playing every day since emoticon

I've always been a huge gamer but now it's great playing with my wife as well. Her favorite game at the moment is Plants vs. Zombies 2 and I gotta say, it's a pretty entertaining game emoticon

Re: Preferred Gaming platform

Well, there is a new announcement this coming Wednesday concerning the PS5. People are hoping for an official price and release date on this announcement (fingers crossed).

When Microsoft released the pricing and release dates for their new consoles, I think that finally set a precedent.

My thoughts are that Sony is going to put the PS 5 disc version at $499 USD to match the xbox series x and the all digital version at $399 USD.

Reports indicate that despite increasing production numbers for the launch of PS5 and projections that Sony will devastate MS with console sales, I think that this analysis is a bit tone deaf, especially for the US market where the unemployment has been hit very hard indeed. Not only that, but if the anticipation hype for the PS5 is real, then you will not likely get your hands on either version of the console until at least March of 2021.

I think waiting after launch for a few months to see the dust settle is the wisest course, but I will stick with Sony as my preferred console, simply because I have had good experiences with their products and I like their first party developers.

What do you guys think? Let's discuss. emoticon

Re: Preferred Gaming platform

So, now that the Xbox Series X and PS5 have been fully announced, priced, torn down and explored, who here is going to buy a new console, which one and when?

Options are:
Xbox Series X
Xbox Series S
PS5 Disk
PS5 Digital

PC (RTX 3090)
