Re: Blade

Or of course sensors in the metal strips going up the sides, or simply mounted in the hilt, detect flexing or impact and respond accordingly.

Or a field extends slightly around or infront of the blade and is inturrupted by 'hard' substances but not 'soft' ones.

Just some example, possibly not the best for this weapon, but they could would work. emoticon

Re: Blade

Some types of particle shields are another such example, since they allow slow moving matter to pass through, while fast moving matter is blocked.

The most important thing is, that it is possible by physical, chemical and technical means. How exactly it is done does not really matter and I think everyone got the picture. emoticon

The metals strips focus the tensor field and are important to recharge the blade with energy, guaranteeing an equal distribution. They are made of a hardened frasium alloy, so they are extremely resistant, even though they are also very expensive. Luckily, nobody parries with the side of the blade and in case of this sword, you would actually parry with the edged side.
